I more or less totally moved to Linux and only run windows under Virtualbox. I’m running Ubuntu 9.10 and VirtualBox 3.14. Usually it is great but occasionally it will give me different weird glitches.
The most annoying one is that I can’t go to full resolution after swapping to fullscreen. It works initially after I installed Guest addition. However it stopped working suddenly and I kept scratching my head and had no idea how to fix it.
The default VirtualBox setup does not allow to change to resolutions do not match with the host. Unfortunately, either the guest or virtualbox got screwed up and do not have the right resolution information.
The easiest fix is simply to run
VBoxManage setextradata global GUI/MaxGuestResolution anyThis is not a perfect fix. In a sense, the guest xp does not automatically adjust to the right resolution after swapping fullscreen. However, at least it allows me to change the resolution manually.
