Fixing Yamaha P80 keyboard

I have sticky keys on my P80. I check the most serious one and it appears to be broken as some others suggested. I initially just tried to glue the broken piece together but it doesn’t solve the sticky issue completely. I eventually tried the needle method described in this blog post and webpage. I think it is a very good suggestion. But I found it difficult to keep the needle in place. And eventually I just bent the needle to outside instead of cutting it. And it is easier to keep my needle in place this way. And it seems the key work fine after the fix. I probably will try to fix the other keys next week if I don’t find any “side effect” meanwhile.

btw, I uninstalled the key following this very nice guide.

Update: the above guide to open the case is no longer available. But one can simply remove all the large screws at the back to remove the cover. After that, remove 9 big screws and 2 small screws attaching the keyboard to the base. Then, we can slide the keyboard backward a bit. Use a card to stick into the side of a broken key and then push back a bit to release a key. Try to google for a service manual and it should be online.
