Calibrate X61 stylus on 12.04

Got my cheap used X61 but the touchscreen is way off. I tried to calibrate it with this and this post but it just doesn’t work in my case. To be fair, xinput-calibrator suggested by the posts is very useful. Just the calibrated data is not registered. After some more search, find the command xsetwacom. After some trial and error, the calibrated data is registered with the following command

xsetwacom –set  “Serial Wacom Tablet stylus” area “182 -30 24742 18354”

The last for numbers are corresponding the xmin, ymin, xmax, and ymax, which can be obtained from xinput-calibrator. To make the changes “permanent”, one may copy the command into .bashrc so that it will be run just after login.

I think the command probably will work for other wacom notebooks. But the device name “Serial Wacom Tablet stylus” may be different. One can find the name with the command

xinput –list
